 Home  >  ABOUT DAVID

My passion for real estate is derived from a deeply rooted family tradition of religiously going to see open houses every Sunday from as long as I can remember. Hi, my name is David Gorski, and I’d like to take a minute of your time and introduce myself.

Before you hesitate in reading this section, I think the trust and relationship you cultivate with your agent is extremely important - so why not get to know who they are, and what they stand for.

From the time I was 8 years old, every Sunday my parents and I had a tradition of going to see open houses. That was always my favourite part of the weekend. I couldn’t wait for Sunday so we can finally get into the car and see a different part of the city. I remember we lived in an apartment building, having just immigrated from Europe - times were really hard. I’ll never forget the very first open house I saw. I felt like I was in a different world; the house seemed like a mansion, something I’ve never seen before. Bare in mind that we immigrated from Eastern Europe, which at the time was filled with poverty. It was then that I knew I had a passion for real estate. All my friends would play soccer, while I would ride my bike through different neighbourhoods and look at houses.

When I was 18 years old I became an avid real estate investor. I started reading every book I could get my hands on, and also attended real estate seminars. At one of the seminars I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Kiyosaki; author of New York Times #1 bestseller “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”. Robert is regarded as the forefront authority on real estate investing, and financial thinking.

My real estate resume also includes “flipping” properties – a highly speculative investment which involves buying old and run down properties, renovating and then selling them at a premium. It’s a very rewarding experience in terms of taking something old and outdated, and turning it into a modern landmark. The first property I renovated was a 50 year old bungalow in South East Oakville.

This process has taught me a great deal about working with contractors, building permits, how to read architectural drawings, fashion and building trends, and building codes, to name a few, which gives me an unprecedented amount of experience which I am able to pass onto my customers. When I see a house, I not only see what it is today, but am able to see what it can become in the future, and most importantly I have the contacts in the industry to realize that vision.

When working with different agents, and looking at specific properties, some agents will tell you they are not sure if there is a building problem, but that the building inspector will point out all the problems at the time of an inspection. A lot of times, I can point out a major problem and save my clients the hassle of putting in an offer, and paying for an inspection only to find a problem that existed all along. Knowing about problems when negotiating an offer often means a better purchase price which translates to money in your pocket.

Outside of real estate I have owned several successful endeavours. My first one started off as a grade 9 French class project. It was an introduction to the French language in a tutorial format on the internet – the first of its kind, bare in mind that this was more than 15 years ago. My tutorial was used as the basic curriculum in high schools and even some universities. It is still up on the internet today, and can be accessed at http://frenchtutorial.8m.com

I have also owned other successful businesses involving my other passions in life - sailing. I owned an import company, Oakville Yachts (www.oakvilleyachts.com), that specialized in buying and selling sailboats from the US. Even though I have now moved onto greener pastures, sailing continues to be a part of my life, and remains a strong passion.

My entrepreneurial spirit was tamed, however, by my lifelong passion of real estate. Having been a real estate agent for the past five years, I have enjoyed tremendous success in my career. The best part is when you do what you love, you feel like you haven’t worked a day in your life.

Thank you in advance for choosing David Gorski for all your real estate needs.
